Fandom and Other Ramblings
May. 25th, 2008 11:03 pmI've been wondering something for a while and those of you on my f-list who are into fandoms, maybe you can answer my questions.
Are there still BNF's around? For those who might not be familiar with it, BNF stands for "Big Name Fan". Whenever I hear BNF, I immediately think back to the early days of Harry Potter fandom and the insanity that was going on. Does your fandom have BNF's? Those authors who have a rabid following and fans that would be willing to flame and stalk anyone who might speak ill of them?
I'm not as into Harry Potter fandom as I once was. I've got other fandoms that I enjoy, but I have to admit that I have not come across any BNF's in them. I'm sure they exist. Maybe I'm in the wrong communities. *shrug
I know that SPN fandom can become a bit crazy. I've seen verbal blows over the Dean/Sam pairing and what pairings are actually considered canon. I have to admit that I don't really watch SPN (ducks stuff that Sally, BD, D, JP and Beth might throw at my head), though I have seen maybe three episodes total. LOL.
And also, I'm pissed that Moonlight was canceled. What the hell CBS? Only one season! One! It did take me about three episodes to really get into the series, but I was enjoying it and squeed like a fan girl when CBS brought it back after the strike. *shakes fist at CBS
I recently started a new job. Right now, I like it. LOL. I guess we all like our jobs when we first start and the crap hasn't settled, but the benefits are what will keep me there for a long time. Work Monday through Friday. Weekends off. Holidays off with pay. Two floating holidays to use and I also get six paid personal days a year and one week vacation to use during this year. The money isn't bad either. It's challenging, but I know that once I get used to using the system, it'll get easier and easier as time goes by.
I got an early birthday present from my friend Nancy. She bought me the Best of Inyusaha CD. It has all the music from the anime. I also got an Ichigo keychain from Bleach. *clutches both gifts. I love them lots and was listening to my CD last night and today.
Went to two BBQ's the last two days. I about rolled into my apartment tonight. Ugh. My brother also had tons of food left over, so I have chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs and sausage in my fridge. I don't have to worry about lunch for work next week. LOL
